Before Nixon.
Before Nixon mandated his charges find a way to ensure food scarcity would never again be a political issue for voting Americans (thus ushering in the era of high fructose corn syrup), sugar itself had at times been a scarce commodity, particularly during the world wars.
With that in mind, here are some particularly spiffy posters from that time:

You can find more war posters from the American Legion and in this design article on world war-era food posters.
New sugar.
We have a refreshed website, finally incorporating our fancy logo along with some flickr pics, and more. Now that we’re on tumblr, it’s going to be a lot easier to share great stuff. Hope you’ll dig the new content. And if you have any comments, suggestions or music you want to share, hit us up on Twitter or our Facebook page or send as an email at hey @ ineedsugar.com.
Sugar for your phone.
Boy that new iOS 4 is pretty snazzy. But it has those super complex textured backgrounds that make reading your icons more difficult than reading anything should be. So without further ado, here’s a lock screen I Need Sugar wallpaper for your iPhone (4, 3G, 3Gs or whatever, it works on’em all) and a matching home screen desktop for your iOS 4 phone that’ll help your icons pop. Enjoy!
Just right click to download.

Yep, this is the background for your home screen, not just blank blue space. Right click to download.

And here’s how it looks in action!

And don’t forget, you can still get the 3G/3GS skin from Stick Stick Bang Bang.

Philosophy never looked so good.
Kudos to Harper Collins for taking a subject not typically associated with design and ratcheting up the quality level for the covers of their philosophy books. Found in their Modern Thought series, each one of these stands on its own; together, they’re like a history lesson in modern design, beginning in 1927 with Heidegger’s Being and Time. The Kant and Wittgenstein covers are particularly daring. Enjoy!

What do you call it when music and design make cute little babies? Masomenos!
From recorded music to live performances, t-shirts to household items, online fun to retail boutiques, welcome to Masomenos.
Don’t know Masomenos? Here’s a video they put together which sums up their happy good time vibe.
Still not sure about Masomenos? Here’s a nice collage of some of their music related design work.

Masomenos music!? Sure. Here’s the Masomenos live mix for Noise Radio.
Enjoy the fun times, belly dancers!
Sliced bread notebooks.
The Die Line has found some Sliced Bread Notebooks. Sounds good to me, even if it is just gimmicky packaging for standard notebooks.
